Attaching the hood of an M... um... how?

My ignorance is showing again. The hood of my M just kinda lays there and rattles a lot. I am not sure how it's supposed to attach. There don't seem to be the correct fittings at the corners, but I don't know what would be correct... or even workable. Another question: Is there any easy way or a trick to get the hood of my M off all by myself? I take off the pre-cleaner and the muffler, and then its a wrestling match from there.
