Until recently this was a working tractor. Changed to 12 volt alternator 10 years back to operate a 12 volt motor. Recently had this tractor moved by a trucking company, was two days with them and in shipment the ignition switch was left on. Tractor arrived with dead battery, wireing harness toast, points burnt. The battery was 1 month old new NAPA 520 cranking amp., now on test it is 250 amp, according to UAP. I rewired tractor. Amp guage seems to be stuck in one position. Battery will start tractor, tractor starts good so no real test for battery. I went out yesterday am battery was dead again. Put in enough charge to crank start, within 30 min tractor would start on starter, so alternator is charging. Yesterday pm I removed wire from alternator and taped it. this am tractor tractor started fine. Alternator is Delco with built in regulator. Is problem alternator or could it be amp guage.
