Thanks for the responses, guys. The only cover I can see under there is the one just to the rear of the Liftall. I pulled that cover off, but can't really tell what's going on yet. A little bit of sludge in there, and something that looks like a piece of inch-wide, thin plastic tape (?) about a foot long laying in a heap on the top of that cover. I've got the manuals on order from this site and will tear into it more once I know how things are supposed to work and how they come apart and go back together. Thanks again. Mitch
