The I-9 and the W-9 were basicly the same tractor. There were a number of different standard features and a number of different options. Standard tires and wheels were different and optional tires and wheels were also different. A HD front axle was optional on the I, the fenders were different, the gear ratios were different, a clutch brake was standard to aid in shifting on the go, a foot accelerator was standard, hydraulic brakes were also an option on the I-9 but not the W-9. The I-9 had a pintal hitch as standard and the regular drawbar was an option. The standard color of the I-9 was red but industrial orange was a no cost option. IHC would paint the tractor any other color the customer wanted for a small fee. Not nearly as common as the W-9 but still probably not clasified as extremely rare.
