Farmer Bob: Years ago I had a mechanic show me just how fast surface rust can form on the cylinder walls. I had takem my aircraft in for a yearly check and it had just set in a semi open hanger for 3 weeks when he pulled the plugs and used a device to go in and "swab" the cylinder walls. I was totally surprised at the amound of rusty crud that had formed. This was in a VERY good engine with clean oil. Moral of the story: Internal condensation is a real problem in all but a heated building. R.
