I've been reading and enjoying this forum for some time and decided to relate my story. I had never rebuilt a motor or restored a tractor before but really had an interest in restoring an old (1944)A that was in a barn where I deerhunt. The A was kept company with 2 Farmall B's and the barn was literally falling down on them. It had been at least 20 years since the A had run and probably a lot longer. After about 6 years of prodding the owner finally agreed to sell me the A for $400....if I took the 2 B's also. In the dark damp barn all 3 looked pretty rough, the A looking better than the B's. The A was complete original without lights or battery box and stuck. The next best B (1945)looked horrible in the barn and I thought it would only be a parts tractor but it was missing only the starter, battery box and lights. The motor was FREE!! One rear tire/rim was history as all the calcium had leaked out. The 3rd B had been partially stripped (all the parts were in the barn)and had a cracked block. I read a lot before I started the project (a lot on this site) and had a good friend that new his way around a motor and was interested in diving in to an old one. I could write a book but here are some important things I learned. Do it for fun. You aint gonna make money from it. I started this for the fun of it and am still having a ball. Sometimes you get lucky. I read the stories of people pulling sleeves and was more than a little worried about pulling mine. I finally just made a puller aout of heavy steel and used 3/4" Ace Hdware allthread and they popped right out (Whew). Don't pull a stuck tractor on asphalt to get it unstuck. A friend of mine wanted to try this with my A and I refused. Boy am I glad I did. When I pulled the pan and looked inside I saw "Don King" type rust all around the cam/tappets of #3 and #4 cyls. It sure wouldn't have done the motor any good having all that rust grinding around in it. A little WD40 and steel wool (and better tappets from the cracked B) and everything was good. The A made its first run round the yard 3 weeks ago. Great feeling. It sounds real good and my 4 year old loves it. The B will be next (wife permitting) Thanks to all the knowlegeable guys out there that post on this site. You have been a lot of help.

The Rescue of a Fordson F - by Anthony West. Introduction I live in the UK and have for many years restored Fordson tractors (in the main model N's). I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
