Just wanted to let you guys know that the missing in the 400 was a bad plug in #3 and high resistance plug wires. After making the fix I have run the tractor on my generator now for several hours and the problem does not seem to return. One thing it does do now is when I shut it off after a long full throttle session on the generator (I do let it idle for a couple minutes before shutting down), is that it runs on for a few seconds and then I get a backfire out of the exhaust. I know that my distributor advance weights are sticky and I have it set for 25 advance (as per book) at full throttle. They don't return to zero when at idle like they are suppose to but comes down to about 5-8 advance. I have compromised the setting for proper advance at full throttle rather than idle for better power and fuel economy, and I suppose this could be the reason for the run on. I have the main jet set to 5 turns as the book spec. Thanks JohnIH
