Hmmmmmmmm. That's a good one. Trying to picture where the gas could be going with no external leaks. Looking at the cross section view in my parts manual, I don't see how the float bowl could be draining down the carb throat, but any other leak would show on the outside. Perhaps the carb body between the bowl and the throat is porous or has a crack or leak. If so, I'd expect you'd notice a major change in how it runs, it should run VERY rich. Check your oil, see if the level is up, or if the oil smells gassy.

My F14 is a dual-fuel, has the little one-gallon tank on the hood for starting on gasoline that gravity feeds directly to the carb. On the odd occasion that I forget to turn the main tank on and run it out of gas, I can refill the carb float bowl from there, and it will run long enough to for the fuel pump to take over.

The fuel pump drives off a cam lobe, at 1/2 of crankshaft speed, so it's gonna take quite a few spins, I should think.
