Hi!

Our 5 foot long rototiller pto trashed one of it's u-joint's, we used a different pto shaft last season and had set this one aside. Now I'm wanting to get it fixed, but the local parts store said that it wasn't a common u-joint, and quoted a price of $45!

This seems a little out of line to me, But I've only bought ones for our automobiles before. What do you think?

Measure it... in reply to Truth seeker, 04-10-2008 20:20:10
In the time it took you to just whine about it, you could have posted a photo and some dimensions.

I have several u-joint catalogs, as I'm sure several others on here do as well.

With dimensions, there's a good possibility someone can cross-reference it to a generic part, for a lot less $$$.

It's a bunch of money for sure.... but it could be worse. Try a grand for a constant velocity joint or over a hundred bucks for a simple cross on some of the metric shafts. If it's just a small 40-50 hp shaft (metric) then I think it's a bit much, but probably not too far out of line. If it's a standard shaft then most I've bought were in the 15-20 buck range.

most NAPA auto parts stores ( at least here in se texas) stock some farm tractor parts including u-joints. that's where i got mine for an old massey-ferguson sickle mower.
