Hello, l believe i have seen discussion before on this site about this pump.-this application is 97 gm 6.5 turbo diesel. truck always starts, runs, but very erratic-fast idle. fault-code points to optical sensor. My question, has anyone changed this unit with pump still mounted with success? It sure is inviting & simple-[i actually have already removed mine, & yes i marked for timing purposes] With the cost of part, I was wondering if problem could lie deeper-"toner wheel"? but don't see that part giving trouble like unit. I have changed/relocated driver modules, but never tried this before. thanks-paul

Changing the optical sensor is a breeze! Can be done in less than an hour. Go ahead and do it.
