Phew, that thing is finally painted and the paint is dry, but it'll need alot of touch-up. I dont think i can get the engine out of my moms caravan to put in there, so i guess i'll have to get mine unstuck, L0L. That thing has been sitting since i got it, mostally in PB. What should i do now?? Im looking at rims, but i havent yet made it to TSC to order a carb kit. I also got a mag, but it hasent shipped yet. What should i do now? Where do i go from here?? I dont know if anyone saw it, but i posted a pic. of the other cylenders thats on page 3 or 4 by now.

I don't usually look at your progress but I did, and I looked at the picc of the cylinders.

My comments would be: that engine doesn't look particularly stuck. It looks positively good for the most part. It looks nothing like most I have dealt with.

Clean above the pistons scrupulously, paying particular attention to the area immediately above where the piston is (that last - or first - mm). Remove the big end cap from the worst cylinder and try turning the engine (away from that rod) as it looks as though it can only be tight on one pot). Use a large piece of end grain hardwood, shaped approx circular, and a large hammer/maul to move the crank by striking the pistons you wish to move. You could try moving the crank up, but only by a mm or so ( not enough to hit crank against stuck rod) Then loosen that worst piston. If it won't move - and I can see no reason why it would not - move the worst piston just enough to crack the rust and no more - or, again, damage to the crank may result. Then you should be able to get everything moving easily.

Remember, two pots are likely on compression and power strokes so valves would have been closed, so little corrosion problem in them, one would have been on inlet, so if air cleaner was on that one should be relatively OK, and the worst is likely the pot on the exhaust stroke with the exhaust valve open.

As I commented earlier, your engine looks only to be slightly stuck, nothing like some I have seen, so you may have other issues in the bottom end causing the seizure.

Also remember, if you need to 'dot' the rods and caps, they should be marked on the camshaft side so anyone would know which way round they should be fitted, if removed at any future time. They are likely already marked anyway.

Lanse, just let it soak for a while longer, it can take a while to free it up. If you cannot get it loose in a week or two, clean out the cylinders real good, I use a drill with a wire brush and a hand wire brush to clean the cylinders and pistons. Clean all the rust and dirt. Remove the oil pan, connecting rod caps and the cylinder head and find a good block of wood and put it on one of the pistons and hammer on the block of wood and see if the piston will move. When it comes loose, do the same on the next piston and until they are all loose.

If all the cylinders don't look bad, I would get under tractor, take a center punch, mark the rod caps and rod itself, so they go back on the same way they came off, take off rod cap of the best looking cylinder, put in a secure place with each cylinder location marked, get some 3/4" wood dowell rod about 36" and see if you can drive any of the pistons out from the bottom by putting thendowell rod in the piston. If you can get 1 or 2 or 3 of them out, then you have less drag using the tractor to loosen the others. Sometimes this vibration can help shake them loose. I have got the last two that were frozen, taken apart this way.

Have you rocked her today to see if she's loosenin up any? Mebbe do some readin' up on the governor to see if you have any questions about how that comes apart if you should have to do that later. Or do a little prep on the parts that you think will need touchin' up.

Or, and there's a lot to be said for this, pull up a chair, admire the machine and what's goin' on and just ponder and look around on her.

Relax and let those "cylenders" soak.

Work on 1) getting the head to Dick and 2) finding the rear rim that you need.

so you need new rims, and you painted the old ones? ok! well i would recomend m.e. miller tire. go to their website and order a catalog. best priced new rims i've seen. good luck!

No, the one in ths pic. was the best one on there, almost new tire. Other rear is missing a rim and a front rim is shot. Has rimrot :-)
Theres a salvage yard near here i'll call, but this is gonna hurt
