Anyone have one of the less than 200$$ units? Are they worth anything on Heavy Budd wheel lugs?

Cars with aluminum mags are the worst. Wrench and 3 foot pipe. All other 100 psi and 3/4 cp can do it. Four horse.

I Use a CP 3/4 drive with 1/2" hose @160 PSI. It does everything we need it to with only a small investmet.

Just remember you will need 1" hose for 1" impact they need lots of air to work good. also use glad hands to connect them if you choke it down with the other type connector it will drop your power a great deal.

I keep reading in this forum about all the stuff being made across the pond somewhere and how upset everyone is, how everyone would rather "buy american" yet most every one who responded to this has a HF china made impact.

There are american made impacts on the market and this is just another example of choosing low price china made over higher $ US made.

Think about that next time you rant about all the manufacturing going over seas.

FAT cat corporate bosses, their lawyers, insurance companies, politicians and union labor raised the prices on American made stuff so if you aren't using it everyday you can't afford $600-$1000 impacts to use 4-6 times a year!

Its like this, the junk stuff has ruined it to where when people need things to work with all they can find sometimes is stuff from Harbor Freight they can afford.Ive given plenty to the Snap ON man as well.15 dollars a week for ten years while I was a mechanic and more when I could afford it to buy a special tool or something. Not being made of money I need to change tires sometimes and dont have 800 dollars for a Snap ON impact.

Have one of the blue painted 1" HF impacts and their socket set with budd socket for 5 years now. Get the aluminum finish one as the painted one chips bad hard on the hands. Works fine on most things and truck wheels but I only use it 5 or 6 times a year and did add larger hose and plumbing to feed it enough air and put a few drops of oil in it everytime I use it. Tire shop in town tried one and lasted him less than a week so was waste of money for them but for occasional use they work fine. If you don't have your air plumbed with larger line or use at least 1/2" or larger hose to impact none of them are going to work well and not enough dry air or wet air on small compressor will ruin a high $$$$ gun fast.

I have one of those $150.00 Harbor Freight rebuilt ones.Works good but I had to tighten all the bolts that hold it together right after I used it a couple of times. Its a inch drive, heavy truck wheel wrench.

Allmost forgot,I had to get a big air line 1/2 inch inside.Cost about 50 or 60 dollars to make it work.Cost another 15 for fittings to hook it to my compressor which is a 7hp 40 gallon one from Sams.It will unbolt about three lug bolts then I have to let it build back up,but it doesnt take it long,I can have a wheel off in less than 5 minutes.Probly less than 3 minutes.

I have an old CP inch drive and the one from harbour freight is stronger and looks just like it,but if you need parts for it a good auto parts store maybe would have parts for it.I put new vanes in my old one and used it for 3 or 4 years before I got the one from Harbor Freight. You need to put oil in all of them. Its not going to work as good as a tire shops will, but for me it works good enough that I dont have to take it to a tire shop if I dont want to.Around here theres no tire shop open on Saturday afternoon or Sunday.Thats usually when I need a tire fixed. If I need to change 8 tires on Sunday I can do it in about 3 hours and not wait untill Tuesday on a tire shop.

We have a couple of cheaper lighter weight 1" impacts and they have a lot of power for the size and weight of them but for getting the nuts off of buds we have to use the old heavy lunker CP along with lots of air flow.Jim

I have 2 of the older model CP Impact wrenches. One will take off the heavy wheel nuts on my motor home, while the other one just hammers away at them, and if I'm lucky, it may take one or two off! Both tools are identical. One i bought many years ago, the other one belonged to my son, who gave it to me when he gave up auto body work, etc.
