Can anyone tell me what is the proper fix for the 190 jumping out of 3rd & 4th gears? I have found that putting a rubber strap to hold the gear shift in 4th works but I'm sure that is not the right way. Also if it is fixed the right way will the fix last or will it go right back to jumping out again soon.I really like the tractor otherwise but the trans is really a pain. Thanks

needs the sliding clutch for 4th and 3rd replaced, may need 3rd and 4th gear also.

problem most generally caused by grinding them into gear. have seen tractors with 8000hrs never having a problem and have seem them with a few thousand hrs having the same problem.

be easy with the gear shift and dont grind them into gear.

Do a search on the Allis Chalmers forum. This topic has been discussed there before.

May not be the "right way" but it is definitely the quickest and cheapest! LoL. Welcome to Allis!
