Teh rar delay was accomplished by a fitting with a restrictor inside it that resulted in the rear coming up after the front reached it's top limit.

Hi Larry,

All three ports are the same as far as lifting goes; one is just pointing backwards is all.

The one on the left hand side, which is pointing rearward, does have it's own separate mechanical release linkage to lower, however.

I.E. That is to say, the port can be made to release/drop either 'not at all', 'after the front two ports' or 'at exactly the same time', depending on how far you push the hydraulic lever ahead.

Contrary to popular belief, there is absolutely no "delay" designed into that system in any manner. If a delay of lift is desired, a restrictor has to be installed in any one of the EXTERNAL hydraulic lines to slow it’s flow of oil.

Back in the 50's, I messed with the delay valve for the rear cultivator, never could get it to work right. If I remember right, after 50+ years, not only is there no delay built into the rear port without the delay valve, the rear section came up FIRST, likely because of pressure differences in the system, that is they don't all work at the same time, although they are supposed to.

I have the delay valve in the line for the rear lift cylinder on my 4 row cultivator for my M. It works perfectly every time. Lifts front first, then the rear as the rear tires come out of the row. Like you and Allan say, there is no difference in the power up other than maybe the path of least resistance without that delay lift valve.
