I had Dr Lauria on my radio while working in my shop. She comes after Rush. This mother calles Dr lauria and said her child wants to go on a field trip with her class to live on a farm for five days. She told the mother not to let her daughter go to the farm, she will not learn a thing on a farm, and should stay in the class room those 5 days.I felt like throwing the radio out the door, but I would just have to find another. Those five days on that farm will leave a lasting impression the the young girl she will never forget. She might even witness the birth and death as it happens on a farm. I know 5 days is not a long time, but some city kid will have a better understanding about farming. This is a provate school. Stan

The station is from Los Angeles, I live near San Diego. Her radio show is very popular here on the west coast. She is on several large stations. Stan

The only reason Dr. Laura doesn't think kids should spend some time on a farm is because they might see the big pile of manure where she came from. She is just a big wind bag that thinks she knows it all but obviously doesn't. I would also wonder why the mom of the girl had questions about spending a week on a farm. It could be a life changing experience for good reasons. Dave

This reminds me of how narrow minded people I go to school with are on the subject of tractors, farm machinery, farmers and farming. I'm not afraid to speak my mind when one of my professors steps out of line when commenting on things they clearly know NOTHING about, either. third party image

I started to listen one time due to the lack of better where i was at the time and when she told the woman to give her husband the ultimatum of her or his guns that he had before they were married. When the kids came along. I knew she was a fool.

Doc Laura has to be the most irritating woman on the planet. I try to listen to her occasionally, but switch the station the first time she pi$$es me off. I usually last about 3 minutes. Can't understand why she has callers, who put up with that drivel.

Come on, admit it. Your a coward. Don't tell us what you think. Tell Dr Laura. Link I have listened to her now and then over the years and my thoughts are, why does anyone call her. They must be desperate people.

It's your own fault for listening to that junk. I don't know about this doctor you are talking about but psycholoigst are worthless in my book they tell you what you want to hear . As per. the rest of those Talk show host they do the same thing only in yoeir point of view . They will say anything as long as they think it will increase listeners . Used to listen to Rush untill I reach this conclusion . I wouldn't waste my time listening to that junk .

My radio only gets one station, I guess the tuner is broken. Maybe I should throw it out.Rush is right most of the time. Some times it hurts to hear the truth. Stan

Why would you even begin to listen to Dr. Laura, or Dr. Phil or any of the other "Media Psychologists" any way. They have but one agenda and that is to line their pockets with as much money as quickly as possible at the expense of some poor ravaged person. The whole concept just makes me want to shake my head and throw the TV and radio out the door.

Turn on some music or watch a special on the discovery channel instead.

I listened to Dr. Laura for a few days a few years back until I realized that she has had a divorce but rips every caller for being a quiter if they are discussing divorce.

Of course she had "good reasons" for her divorce but she must embarass the character of every caller going through the same thing. Just another hypocrit if you ask me

Please enlighten me. I always thought that Dr. laura and El Rushbo were both jewish entertainers. Do you mean that she was a Christian?

If sounds to me like Dr Lauria needs to go live on a farm for about a year, and she might not be so stupid after that. Another educated person with no common since.

Hey Stan, didn't know that Dr. Laura was still on. But, I'm not much into catching psychologist stuff either. So, the kid shouldn't be allowed to stay on a farm because wouldn't learn a thing? I'm kind've thinking that the kid's already learned something...that Mom has to call a psychologist to tell her if her child should be allowed to stay on a farm for 5 days in the first place. That to me says a ton.

I share your frustration though, and your calmer mind for not destroying your radio...these days. Many years ago, a boss called me at about 1AM to chew me a new one over something that I had nothing to do with, nor knew anything about. I lost my cool, and after giving him a few choice words, promptly destroyed that telephone and sat there shaking my head for several minutes while the dogs took off out the doggie door out of fear. I'd have never hurt them, but they scrammed. Well, had to clean up the mess, and while doing so, unplugged the destroyed phone...which had the line off the hook. The second that I did that, the kitchen wall phone rang, so I picked it up and it was my boss blowing me more garbage. I kicked that phone off of the wall, and when I did, the receiver flew back and konked me, making me more angry. That phone, after I picked it up went right through the screen door window and ended up in the yard somewhere. So, had no working phone, a broken window, and two dogs hiding outside somewhere. Until the day them two dogs died of old age, everytime the phone rang, out the doggie door and hid somewhere, even though I never touched them harmfully, nor would I. Thanks Stan for having a calmer personality when the pressure's on...it works out better in the long run, trust me. And I didn't need Dr. Laura to learn me that either.

I sometimes agree with Dr. Laura, but she's about dead wrong on htis one. Most of the kids today couldn't tell you where anything thay ate or put on their backs came from. I speak from the standpoint of a very small part time farmer in a small rural community, and I don't think most of our kids here are much better off than in large cities. Many of them couldn't tell a pig from a goat, or a soybean from an ear of corn. I have three wonderful daughter-in-laws from urban backgrounds. If I don't leave anything else behind I will teach some of this to them and my grandkids.
