Hey folks,
Anybody getting ready to buy propane? I called a couple of the places here in North Texas last week, but it doesn't appear that propane prices have gone down yet (quoted near $2.50 a gallon). I need to fill my 250 gallon tank for my home. Anybody around these parts have a cheaper source?
-stephen

A couple of days ago an FS propane guy tried to set me up with a new tank and 1.58 a gallon plus a 3.00 per fillup charge for regulators. Wife called Ferrellgas and they couldn't or wouldn't give her a price until July 1. Got Ferrellgas now and they really gouged me last year.

144 cents per gallon s.e minnesota. Cash price includes 5 cents rental charge as i dont own the tank. I can get buy filling once a year. I use it to run my grill instead of using little 20lb tanks. much cheeper to use then the portable tanks.

Just got my bid from supplier. $1.89... I can't afford to buy what I need, 2,00 gallons. Holy cow!
They offer a slightly lower price to our church and the members, in a package deal. Hope it will be substantially less. They mistakenly quoted a very low price last year, and took a beating. Bet they won't make that mistake again!

I just signed for 1.63 @ 10 cents per gallon down to reserve 800 gallon. Last year was 1.59, not too bad of an increase. It's hard to beat the price at the Farmers Co-op. Service & Supply Co. {St. Louis area}

I was just given a pre-buy price of $1.89 per gallon for 500 gallons here in central New York.
Farm diesel is $2.30 a gallon.

I also just checked today's national wholesale prices as follows:

Propane: Texas - $1.15 per gallon Kansas - $1.14 per gallon

Heating oil/Farm diesel: New York Harbor - $2.02 per gallon Gulf Coast - $1.99 per gallon

Gasoline reg. : New York Harbor - $2.20 per gallon Gulf Coast - $2.15 per gallon

#2 low-sulfur diesel: New York Harbor - $2.16 per gallon Gulf Coast - $2.12 per gallon Los Angelese - $2.28 per gallon

I contracted for 1200 gallons last year for $1.60/gallon. This year for the same amount, it's going to be $1.66. I don't call that too bad of an increase.

If you're only buying 250 gallons, don't expect to do much better.

LP is around $1.69 here now if you do a 200 gallon minimum.

67 cents Can a liter here plus they upped my tank rental from $82 to $125 anually because I "don't use enough fuel". That LP pool heater is going to go and a 150,000btu titanium heat pump will be it's replacement one of these years.

On Ohio Edison I pay 2x what local coops charge. I think I am at $.12 a kw They say thats because were paying for the neucular power plant. Your suspose to be able to choose electric suppliers here ,but that is a joke ! as I have only a choice between Ohio Edison and First Energy same company different names.

Check out geo-thermal if your considering changing your heat source.

Yes, geo thermal is a good option, NOW. Until recently geo thermal didn't cut it in Manitoba winters. In Manitoba electricity is generated by either water or wind, neither of which relies on fossil fuels. Most houses in Winnipeg are heated with natural gas, but that's just not available in rural Manitoba. Electricity is cheap in Manitoba and we have a lot of it, and more is in the works. RENEWABLE ENERGY!!
