We had a sprinkle Friday evening, just enough to settle the dust. Got up Saturday morning and went to put flowers on graves at cemetary. Started raining just before we got there, quit when we pulled in. Put flowers on family stones and got back into the car and it started to rain hard.Rained off and on all day. Checked last night after it quit, 3 inches. Came nice, all soaked in, no water standing in low spots in fields. We needed that, hope you all got some too.
Chris

Sounds like exactly what I got in N. Illinois. Ruined a lot of graduation parties I 'spect. Small price to pay though because we sure needed it.

Allen;
You would have no idea how to work land and crops in a place that got a steady rain each month; no more than I would know what to do in your dry land.

In fact you would be like every other farmer around here and be wishing the rain would let up so you could get some work done.

It is real nice to see how different each area of our country is and how you use different tactics to deal with the problems.

You might even get a chance to use that wiper blade you have on your tractor one day. :>)

Nary a drop to be seen in Northern/Central Georgia. Killing the budget putting county water on the garden.

Our hay supplier says get ready for a bad year. The first cutting of Bermuda Hay was way below normal because of hard freeze Easter weekend and now the 2nd cutting just isn't growing because of the drought. Feed stores are having trouble keeping hay in stock too, even charing $8.00 for a Bermuda square bale.

Luckily this is just a hobby for me, can't imagine what the real farmers are feeling like these days.

Larry

Yes I can remember the water restrictions from when I lived in N/E corner of Coweta County back in the late 80's. This was all foreign to me coming from a place that never runs out of water.

I really feel sorry for the farmers also. If it is not to much rain it is not enough; or to hot; ect..... . One of the main reasons I did not continue the family farm myself and only hobby farm now.

Best part is everyone on this site was stunned when I told them the dairy farmers in this area were baling rye grass hay early this spring because it is so hard to get dry enough to bale. Turns out they may have been the smart ones if the hay season keeps going like it is so far.
