Thanks Paul. Ours has the V-4 ford with the troque conveter. Engine has been bad for sevral years now it has finally stopped. Have a couple used engines lined up to switch. But was curious if anyone ever adapted another engine to fit in there. That Ford engine sometimes I wonder if, when it was right of the built line, if it was any good:) Thanks

I have an Owatonna 1700 that someone adapted a Chrysler 251 Flathead 6 in it. It runs and works awsome but I am searching for an original equipment engine. You wouldnt happen to know where one may be? It seems you are having problems with your engine but the parts for the Chrysler engine are hard to come by. No one around here seems to know anything about owatonna's and the dealers are telling me unless I want to spend several thousand they can't help me. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dean first question. Does yours have the torque converter or the Variable pulley belt drive system. From what you say Ill bet its the variable pulley belts to be able to get that size engine in there.

Sorry for the slow response, the notification went in my spam folder. In response to your question; It has the variable drive with a belt. I've always thought it to be a sort of torque converter like a snowmobile. The pully closest to the front can be controlled hydraulically from a lever left of the seat. Hope that not to confusing. Thanks again for any help
