I believe I have convinced myself that I need a bale wagon rather than manhandling those bales this year. There are two sitting idle for the past couple of years a few miles away. One is NH 1000 stackliner and the other is a NH 1012 Stackliner. Can somebody tell me the difference in the two models, how old are they and what kind of HP required to operate them. How many bales do they hold etc. Also what might I expect to pay for one. If either one will meet my needs I will see if they are for sale. Thanks

My brother and I used to have custom hay business. Have to disagree with the statement that the 2 wide wagons don't stack well.
The key is to make good bales. We custom cut about 1200 acres of irrigated alfalfa. Normally about 8 ton/acre. Used a 2 wide self propelled wagon.Only time stacks fell down was when the baler operator made bad bales.

the 1034 unloaded one by one but it is slow, we had a 1033 and we would dump the load by the elevator or build stacks with it. A 2 wide isn't much good for making stacks, a 3 wide has auto tie to tie the bales together, also some 2 wides did not have push offs, bale consistency is very important to make a bale wagon work properly.

Is there a bale wagon that was made for self unloading into an elevator? I am going to start organic dairing on my own and mostly working alone.I may just let the bales fall where they may in the mow. (please don't tell the neighbors) Jon K

Here is a link to Roeder Spec page. They have a lot of info on NH Bale Wagons.

Thanks for the link Errin. It answered what I needed to know. I won't be able use one as I have only 13' clearance. When I built the shed I wasn't thinking of a bale wagon!!! Could have easily added another foot to the height of the footings.
