I bought a 766 IH tractor, with what I was told had a blown T/A. The question I have is if the T/A is blown, then the tractor shouldn't move at all right? I have been able to drive it with T/A lever all the way back. I am also wondering if I just have a Range transmission shift linkage problem? The trans was 8 gallons low when I got it, and when I filled it I was able to drive it; but shifting is a problem. Thanks for anyones help! Lance

What does it do in high? How does it act?

Thanks for your quick reply. At this point i'm not sure, when I drove it the range lever was in the neutral position above Reverse, and the speed lever in 1st. I was unable to get the range shifter to move to the left to go into high range. Any thoughts? Tractor would only go forward a couple of inches, then roll back when T/A lever was all the way forward. Would the best place for me to start be trying to pull a heavy load, to check for slippage?
Thanks Lance

First things first.

Adjust and/or repair the trasmission shift levers to operate as they should.

Then you'll be able to see if and what is wrong with the T/A and clutch.
