id=17&partner_id=110530-this is what is in the address bar, when it mysteriously opens up!

I tried to break it up and copied and pasted off line. In case it is bad. My webroot has been saying blocking at lot of "access to ##.###.##.##" Always a different IP address. My understanding is this is another computer trying to get into mine. The one I posted was a new page that opened on it's own, while I was already on this site. My laptop is also always restarting for no reason, it doesnt hibernate or anything just restarts, it also does it when I am RUNNING a full spy/virus sweep. I had this laptop checked out by the "firedog" guy at curcuit city, he said I was good to go. I am worried that I have something deep in my operating system that webroot is missing, or is shutting down the pc when detected so it cant be removed or quarenteened

Yet another tragic consequence of global warming.

Seriously bud, it sounds like you've been hijacked. With your machine off line and wireless disabled, try to run a malware detector like AdAware and a good antivirus like AVG (they're both free if your machine will behave long enough to download them). Also if you don't already have it, and it sounds like you don't, get Zone Alarm (free also), a firewall. Keep your defenses updated and run them regularly (AVG runs automatically each night).

It may take a few hours to wrest back control of your computing device. Then you can get back to worrying about global warming or something.

Good luck.

When do you see it? When you first open up your browser? Or does it pop into your browser at random? Probably somebody hijacked your browser to generate "clicks" in a pay-per-click fraud scheme.

Reverse nslookup on that IP says that it is "bkbmedia.com".

whois says that bkbmedia.com is registered by godaddy.com. And when you look at that page, it's just a "parked" domain with a lot of links. I think the whole thing is set up for "pay per click" fraud.

You can report the offending addresses to godaddy.com, and no doubt they'll bring down those web pages. But that won't help you clean the garbage off your computer. Right now, it sounds like your computer is a "bot". Sorry I can't help you any further; I don't use Windows myself.

I think your PC has been turned into a money-making machine for somebody else. At this point, I think a complete rebuild might be in order.

Sounds like some kind of malware or virus. Those things are often buggy and can crash the operating system. I'd find the original install disks, backup files you really need, and reformat the drive/reinstall the OS and any other software from known clean sources.

Every website is translated to an IP address. It doesn't matter if you use the name or the IP numbers. The name is just translated to the number by a call to whatever Domain Name Server (DNS) you use.

All web addresses are in numbers we only use the names to make it easier for us to read. But the computer will translate into the numbers for them to read. Sometime people will use the number system just so you don't know what it is.
