Your post said you have a White 6100 planter. I looked on the Dawn Website and they show the units that I have are for a 5100. My Question is, the spiders can be moved forward or backward. Which is better? Looks like if you move 1 forward and 1 back that you will clean entire row. If set side by side, you would leave a stip uncleaned in the middle of the row. I also have some box beam from an old cultivator, thimk I can mount in front of planter toolbar and mount no-till coulters on that and have both no-till coulters and row cleaners. Any thoughts? Chris

I'll be planting into bean stubble and have had problems with swath of trash from chopper. How long is the tongue extension you have on your planter? I think the best thing to do will be to mount row cleaners and then measure how far out in front the coulters need to be, and then figure out where to mount bar for coulters. My coulters are the small wavy (till 2 or 3 in. strip ). Would I be better off with wider blades? Thanks, Chris

If you can run them staggered and clean entire row, I would say that would be best. Ours are Yetters and they intermesh to clean entire row, only problem we run into is that sometimes an old stalk will wedge itself into them and plug. I think staggering would help this problem. As for the coulters, they are a must for no-till, and will extend the life of your DD openers. Without extending the hitch, make sure your tractor wheels will be able to clear the toolbar you add out front. We ordered ours with the 3ft. extension and White's coulter toolbar. We run two wavey coulters with fert. injectors per row. That lets us put starter fert. on each side of the row, and gives us a nice seedbed.

Alot of it depends on you spray application. I you do burndown then the interlock works,if you use preapplication to the soil stagger is best ast it will help with the streaking you willl get in the middle. Install all tyes of those all time on new planters of some kind. Funniy thingis now two guys ever run or want them setup the same. I ran mine in the stagger position but you don't want them very deep, just remove the trash don't make a furrow cause it will rain and you will have gulleys every 30 inches. WARNING some of those units have springs inside of them when you relase for adjust they slam up. Watch youur hands, nose whatever. Been there done that. I have some brand new coulters off of Tool bar that have never been in the ground that you could make use if interested (Yetters).
