In regard to a 03 Chevy PU, what would cause the dash gauges to quit? I can pull the good fuse and plug it back in, and everything will work for a few days. I have replaced the fuse, but the same thing will occur. Usually after 3-5 days the guages will quit working once again, until I follow the same prodedure. Thanks guys for your thoughts on this.

I would put a little twist to the fuse ends and reinstall it and hopefully it’s a bad connection at the fuse panel. I have not looked up the TSB 03-08-49-020 yet but gonna… I have replaced a few ignition switches and had a fer clusters repaired. Always helps to know if the radio quits.

Go to your dealer and get the IPC reprogrammed per service bulletin #03-08-49-020.

Fixed every one I ran into that had the same problem.~brad

Perplexed we used to do this little trick at the shop I worked at. After you replace the fuses and everything is working disconnect the battery for one minute and then reconnect. The computer will then reset itself and often eleiminate the code that keeps disrupting your guages..just a thought and worth a try, takes all of two minutes..

The cold weather does it. My 03 gauges often stop working when it is very cold. They return to working condition when the truck warms up real good.

The service manager ( brother-in-law) told me it is a common problem and they usually replace the whole cluster. I'm gonna have mine replaced sometime before the warranty is up.

My understanding is that LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE during cranking scrambles the dashboard 'puter's software, and it "reboots" and works on the next start of the day, when the engine is warm, and cranks easier, and the battery is warmer and charged up.

The replacement instrument panels are more tolerant of low system voltage from tough cranking, cold starts.
