Generator/alternator for 300 Utility.

Looks like a Delco alt. would be an awfully tight sqeeze under the hood of the 300. Looked at the 77 generator and it measures real close to the 300's. If I try to switch the 77 gen. to the 300 and put the alt. on the 77 there'd be plenty of room for both. Will the generator from the 77 electrically work on the 300? What would be the difference? I'll have to run the proper wiring of course.

You can fit a 12V GM ALT under the hood of a 300 utility very nicely. There is a kit that has a bracket for it, or you might just make one. Use 3/8x1 flat stock. Use the adjustment slide from the original to line up the new alt. There are two holes in the block that the new bracket mounts to. Weld short ears on a peice of flat stock to mount the bottom of the alt.
Also, if the generator runs in the same direction it should work

When I changed my 300U to 12v, I used a early "60"s delco generator from an old chevy, not much to change with that. It works real good for me.
