While trying to pull a stuck skid-steer out with a tractor ( not sure what kind it was ) it flipped over and killed the tractor operator, whom is a relative, an in-law, married to an older cousin, forget the connection exactly, that is not important anyways, his brother operated a long time business, well known for pick-up truck caps and related items, it appears the 2 of them were working together when this happened, it's an awful thing what happened and I am hopeful their family stays strong through this tradgedy.It is a grim reminder how quickly things can go wrong, it was probably a bad decision to use the tractor for this but I'm not sure of any of the details. I believe they probably had access to a backhoe by virtue of a neighbor, I won't speculate, just a shame that it happened and my thoughts are with their family.
No matter how experienced one is and how quick you think you are able to react, when you hook a chain or cable to the back of an older era tractor, to pull something small or substantial, this can be the end result, it's something to remember, go the extra mile, get what you need to do it safely, be it the right equipment, rigging or just leave it alone until you can do it safely. Nothing you can hook to that chain or cable is that important, be it a log or a piece of equipment that is stuck and this incident is an awful way to be reminded of that. BE SAFE
