My wife told me I need to sell one of my tractors to make room for my grandfathers 22-36 McCormick Deering. I agreed, I only have four total and all at my dads. This is the part I cant understand (I do not want to offend any color blind collector (my father one them), so I will say sorry now -- sorry). I posted and heard very little on the add. I have an Oliver Hart Parr 70 that runs for 1200 I'll take 1000. From what I have read it was a big part of the tractors turning point into the styled, streamlined, visionline etc. workhorses of the late 30's and early 40's. I do not feel I am way out there in left field with my pricing. Looking through the ads I wonder how the pricing got so high $2600 for a JD A or even a JD B. I have noticed at one time or another a Farmall H for over 4000. I have just started with my tractors 4 years ago and have seen an increase in price. I am 29 and can remember my father buying a '50 JD A for 350 and saying he paid to much for it (a running tractor). I saw a "low priced" A for 1250 that was stuck. The saddest part is I know people are paying these prices well over what the tractors are still worth. Also what happened to how a tractor runs instead of what kind of paint you put on it and how many layers of clearcoat? Thank you for taking the time to read this I feel slightly better typing and posting this

Thank You

"To make room for the 22-36"

Are you making BARN space for it, or WALLET space?

If this is an issue of the wife saying if you want spending money to work on a new project, can't help you there... If it's a matter of having storage space for the toys you have, then I'd consider moving something outside, and covering it well. Might solve your problems temporarily.

Advertise on Craigslist. It's free and a different clientele reads it. I sold my Kubota 6200 there for $5,000 last year. Dealers told me I might get $2,500-4,000. Your distance from Minneapolis won't help, but a serious buyer might still go that far if it's a nice tractor. See: >Link

In>Link our area it is getting a little late in the year to sell a tractor that someone might want to use. I presume a collector's item might sell at any time of year.

Hi Jay;
Good morning from England. You are a very lucky guy to get your Grandfather's tractor, treasure it.
Prices in England have gone thro the roof over the past couple of years, especially for classic tractors from the 1960's. Stuff from the 1930's & 40's have held or fallen back here. The problem we all have is that some fool pays way over the odds for a particular tractor and every seller thinks his tractor is worth that much. Hang onto your "for sale" tractor for a while, I am sure your wife will understand that you dont want to "lose money" on it. You'll find a buyer one day who will pay a fair price and look after it well because he will appreciate you can give him some history on it. Good luck - David in England

It is very tough to sell stuff right now. Gas prices are a part of it as it costs too much to go after this stuff.

I probably think much like you. That, of course, doesn't make you right. ;)

Lot of Oliver lovers around Sleepy Eye - I'm related to a lot of them - not sure what part of the state you are in.

I'm into working tractors, far more than pretty tractors.

I always seem to have to pay top $$$ when buying, & get lowball offers for anything I sell too. Suppose most of us end up feeling that way.

I live right in Morris, and dont get me wrong I really enjoy seeing the old tractors painted nicely. I feel a good sound tractor is by far better than one you can only look at. It is nice to use the old ones too. Instead of just restoring them to sit in a building and only come out when it is time for an auction.

Hey there Morris Guy. I spent a few weeks last year working in your town. Nice place unless you want to eat later in the day.:>) Sure did like it out there though. Quiet place compared the rat race here in Minneapolis. Bought a pickup there last year too. Can you send me a picture of your tractor? wddj4 at aol dot com.
