I am trying to figure out the painting scheme on my early (1962) Farmall 140 aluminum decals. The raised Farmall letters are black, the embossed McCormick is red, but is all the background white or is it unpainted aluminum? On the ovals, is the background all white and the 140 letters red? Some time back on this forum a "NC 140 Man" and also a gentleman by the name of Scott Norton posted some info indicating that they might know the proper colors. Any info I could get would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, Mark. I assume the horizontal bars beneath the 140 are also white?

Hi Paul, this is Scott, my handle is nc140man. From what I could tell, also the way I refinished them, The horizontal bars are unfinished aluminum but the shallow grooves between them is white along with the rest of the backround. The raised edges on the outer edge of emblem are also bare aluminum. Before I refinished them I took pics. and examined closely so they would look as close to original as possible. I'm gonna try to post some before pics. I have in parts & pieces. Scott

Paul, The Farmall emblems background is unpainted aluminum. The oval emblems should have a white background, except for the raised outside border, which is unpainted. The white paint # is IH 901, which converts to PPG 8665.The raised number 140 is IH 2150 red.
