For 20+ years my uncle only had one of those, an 8 foooter on a 150 hp tractor, to plow snow with and he loved it. He did have a loader/bckahoe on the farm but liked the bigger tractor with cab for snow (he is no dummy). NOw that his son raises livestock fulltime too they have a cabbed loader tractor but I still see the rear scoop mounted at times when I visit. I think the biggest drawback is lifting/dumping height but other than that thy are great.

Those things work great. I have one on my 9n ford and my favorite thing to do with it is pick rocks in the field. You can drive along, with the scoop reversed, and back up to the biggest rock you can imagine and scoop it right up and haul it to the rockpile without ever getting off the tractor. They are worth their weight in gold, well maybe brass! Good luck, you will love it.

I agree w/Pooh. Have had one for about 25yrs. It will hold about 1/3 yard when you really pile in the dirt. It is slow to work in reverse, but works fine forward. You can dig, carry, unload a lot of dirt, if you don't mind the time you spend in the saddle. Get one, you'll use it and wonder how you ever got along w/o one.

I got one and I love it. I use it on my 8N.
Got it off ebay for $66 and had to go pick it up.
Mine is a 24 incher. Holds about a big wheelbarrow full of dirt.
Mine is reversible but I haven"t used it in reverse yet.
Only implement I got that has gotten more use is my finish mower.
I have used my scoop to fill up holes all over the property.
I leveled low spots with it. Filled in a big sink hole.
Get one and you won"t regret it.
