Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knew of someone in the Sherman Texas area who would be interested in antique vases, bells, and glassware. I'm looking into getting some of my moms old collection of vases and stuff out of here. she past away back in 95 and the stuff is just catching dust here. there are some things that I will keep, I don't want to completely get rid of all of it but I don't think she would want me to continue too let this stuff just catch dust. I'm not really into glassware ya know. Any ideas feel free to email or respond too the post.
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary,

What I would do is take the time to photograph what you have for sale, side and bottom view with deminsions, then pay to get a on-line appraisel to see if you have something "special". This way you can contact a well known apprasier to make sure you don't get ripped localy.

From playing with antique clocks and pocket watchs, you want to seperate the better items for individual sale, and or group the common stuff. If your in a hurry for a sale, expect to get burned big time on price.

I would think e-bag would be the worst place for this type of sale and I hate auctions but at a good auction with quality items, you can make a killing.

The cream of the collection will always bring a higher price from a private collector. You just need to find that buyer or if you have a rare piece the buyer will find you :)

Hi Gary in Texas,
We live in Decatur, which isn't too far from Sherman. We have collected antique glass and vases for a number of years. Maybe we could help. You can give us a call 940 627-5262 or email us at robineg@ntws.net
Thanks, Robin

Since I've had an antique shop since 1976, you would think that I could come up with a good idea to dispose of my own late Mom's antique household. It's hard to see those things go. I considered taking items over to my shop a few pieces at a time, but that would be a long drawn out painful process. Instead, I'm having an auctioneer come, and pack up a load for a sale later in the month.
If you have an auction house in the area, sometimes it's easier to just cut loose and let the "tail go with the hide". Either that, or put the things on consignment at a antique mall, where you could control prices.
Wish you luck...

I am in the same situation, I sell antiques as a paying hobby.. My Dad passes away,in 2000, but there are still lots of items I have stored. It is painful, going through some things, but I finally have started to sell some of them. I figure it is better for a collector to enjoy them, rather thn just letting them sit in storage...

Gary,

All these things have sort of value to you..maybe very little to some other person. You know, a few momentos kept back is probably the best and then put the rest in the hands of family members or let it go on ebay...if you really want free of it...place a low starting bid and let it go.
