I mean really,

Don't you fellas ever get tired of being right all the darned time?

Thanks Billyiron. I used a GM tranny magnet on the backside of the fender to cover that large adjusting hole, then the bolt thru the magnet.

Worked slickern' a sock on a rooster. :>)

Hi Rusty,

When I was diggin' out of that farm sale hole I had ended up in, I rebuilt automatic transmissions to do it.

GM always puts a magnet in the pan to catch all the metalic "fines" and for some odd reason, I would always throw the darned things in my toolbox instead of putting it back into the tranny.

I was always gonna give 'em to some grade school teacher to use with her kids, but I never got around to it.

Over the years, I bet I've ended up with a pickup load of these things and never found a real use for one until today. :>)

I'm certain you're 10 times the mechanic I could dream of being... but why didn't you put the magnets back in ? When ever I change the ATF, the magnet is always covered with a film of metallic gunk (as is the inside of the pan).

It's nice to see your project coming along.

Hi Red,

Just a habit I got into, I guess. Kind of a "head count" or "scalps" on the number of units I had walked thru. :>)

Their real purpose was to lengthen the life of the filter by keeping metal away from it, but there is no possible way that the "gunk" can ever actually re-enter the system, so there was absolutely no harm done.

GM puts the little guys in their rear ends also. Now those serve a real purpose as they do keep the debris out of the bearing races and so forth.

I'm sure I don't want one of those magnets in my rear end.

Hi Mike,

Three total-loss hailstorms back to back in as many years and a backbreakin' load of debt.

One more year and the dirt could possibly have been lost to the wolves; couldn't chance it, so just called the auctioneer, bailed out and ran.

It took 10 years before I stopped waking up in the middle of the night frettin' over the money.

All's well that ends well, tho I guess. :>)

Send some over to 'Ol Rog....I'll bet he could figure out a use for them. Maybe some tractor puller could use 'em to "fine tune" his tractor's weight!

I love those things - handy. I have one on my bench press to hold the bits I'm currently using and the key. Another on the bench for that project with the little screws. ETc.
