Talking to my Uncle Willard the other day and he tells me that when John Deere first came out with their model "A", a few of the first off the assembly lines were sent to Canada and badged as the model "EH". Is he spoofing me or what? He always was a bit of a joker, eh !!!

John Deere did before the introduction of the Model A in 1934 did have an expermintal version of it and altho I as of now cannot remember for sure I think there was an E in the designation for expermintal. Some time back Green Magazine had an artical in about it, if I could just find that artical now. On the JD board somebody may have a copy of that artical and give more information. For colaberation of this go to the magazine itself.

I'm from Canada myself, aye? It seems to be an expression we use a lot, aye? If you look it over, you'll see it even in the way we spell the name aye? C-aye-n-aye-dee-aye?

Thanks Bob. Rufus' uncle was right. I remember them EH tractors real good. Elmer Snickleman had two that he used in his Coffee farm operation over by Mayo. His both had three wheel fronts what could be adjusted from the driver's seat. The left wheels on the front and back was bigger than right side cause his ground was so steep. He had three of them 'ol boys from Brazil but they wouldn't run them tractors. The liked them little burros better. About twenty years later I bought one of them EHs that I used on the ice binder until I sold it to guy who run the the Pink Gopher bar and Grill in Yellowknife. Hope this helps

Deere also marketed a model "E" mounted disk from the late 1950's to early 1970's?

Yeah, he's pulling your leg. I don't think John Deere has ever changed the model names on the tractors they send to Canada. Besides, while I don't there ever being an "EH", there was such a thing as the "E", but that was a stationary engine.
I hope that clears things up.

Not sure if Specter is from Canada, but I think he meant to say, "I hope that clears things up, eh?"

Eh, Mike, how are things down in Washington, eh? I'd love to come down to visit, eh, but the dogsled is broken and the dogs are sick, eh. And I can't find the silly musk oxen to hitch to the red river cart, eh. 'Sides, it could be dangerous down there with all the hurreecaines and such, eh. I think I'll just stay up here and drink beer, eh, and maybe watch some hockey, eh?

Jeez, if I started talking like that, my family would think I've gone schizophrenic. They'd put me in a straight jacket and throw me in a room with rubber walls. I never really caught on to "Canadianisms" such as "eh", despite living in Canada all 16 years of my life. Maybe it's becuase I'm a simple country boy, and lack sophistocation? ;-)

By the way, it's a beautiful fall up here. The stragglers are almost done with harvest. How are things down below the 49th?

Just another boring day in paradise down here, Specter. A little rain off and on, but not much yet- fall colors looking nice. Haven't had a killing frost yet, still trying to keep up with eating the tomatoes and zuchini. Some days its hard to come up with something to complain about.
