with load in bucket and tractor facing down hill driven into pile of material my 8n would not back away from the pile without dumping load in bucket. I then took the loader off and have not used it since. I bought a 3 point scoop that works in both directions and a 3 point manure loader that will lift the load up about 6 feet off the ground and dont miss the ft end loader at all. just my take on this matter.

You will need a power steering kit to be able to drive it with a load in the bucket now!

You can get a low GPM source (a little over 1 GPM) by chaining down the 3-point, and then tapping into the hydraulic test port on the pump. Others have given the fitting size. You then tap a hole into the axle side-cover for the return.

Or, you can get a 12 GPM pump, and a drive kit to drive it off the engine's front crankshaft pulley.

This site (YT) sells the drives and the pump.

8N is a nice little tractor for some chores, but powering a loader off the tractor hydraulics isn't one of them. Not only is it agonizingly slow, but the internal hydraulic pump only operates when the clutch is engaged- that is, when you step on the clutch, everything stops. So you'll have a loader that's both anemic and intermittent. And did I mention infuriating? Get a front pump- its not difficult, and you'll have a loader that actually works.

I read that the pressure port is 1/2" by 20 TPI so pay attention to what you screw in the port.

And do not forget to tie the lift arms down. Then you can use the tractor lift lever to raise the loader.

The 8N has a pressure port on the pump cover. It is located behind the right step plate about where your right heel is when you are driving the tractor. It is easy to ID because it sticks out at a 45 degree angle You can use this to power a remote valve by putting a return back in at the tranny fill plug. You won't be satisfied because it is very slow. The only sucessful way to run a loader on an 8N is with a crankshaft driven front pump or a P.T.O. pump Ed

Hello just Bill, I am just a redneck. Anyway, What size ports do you have on the machine? Do you have steel tubing? Do you want to make a custom setup?
