I am replacing the old single in my 127 with a 4 cyl. opposed engine. Problem is that if I connect the driveshaft to the flywheel end like I should, it rotates backwards from what the original engine did.
Question is, will the pump/hydraulic motor work running backwards? Thanks for any response.
Dave

No, the hydro will not work running backwards. The "charge pump" will not work, and the unit will die from lack of lubrication, within a minute or two.

On SOME hydros, the body of the charge pump can be turned 1/4 turn, and it will operate in the reverse direction, but I don't think that can be done with yours, although Sundstrand probably did make an alternate charge pump for reverse rotation operation.

If you were to obtain a charge pump for the opposite rotation, the hydro SHOULD work, although operation of the speed-forward/reverse conrol would, I believe, be opposite of original.

I suggest turning the engine around so driveshaft rotation is correct.
