I wouldn't put it with gas, it'll just fouol things up and not run worth a darn in a spark-ignited vehicle but you can run a Diesel on it if you either a. install a system to heat the veggie oil to at least 180 degrees or b. convert it to bio-diesel using a lye and methanol process. And it has to have the living h**l filtered out of it either way.

Hi Jamason,

Well there was article I read, now I just got to remember where I did read it, that was talking about 10% vegie(SVO) gasoline mix without any problems of messing up the O2 sensor nor any tailpipe smoke.

WVO (waste vegetable oil) would still have to be processed for acid content and fats for diesel or gasoline usage.

You could however use homemade alcohol for a gasoline subsitute on most engines. Made from any vegetation that has a natural sugar content.

If you would like more info, I'll see if I can't dig up the website on gas/SVO mixing.

I saw a story on the TV show Trucks, a couple of weeks ago. It showed the host taking used veg. oil, from a fry cooker at a resturant, and running it through a bio-fuel processor. The show went through the whole process, from picking up the oil, to the testing of it, to mixing it with methanol and household lye. Then the meth/lye mix and oil was mixed in this processor. Then he took the fuel and ran his diesel truck on it. He said the exhaust smelled like french fries cooking. The processor they showed on TV sells for about $3000. Thats too high for me, so I went online using biofuel processor as the search word and found all kinds of info. on building one of these things cheap. I found a site that made a processor out of an old water heater. Most resturants have to pay to get rid of old cooking oil, so you can get it for free. You can get methanol at a car racing shop. And the lye you can buy at the local hardware store. The bottom line is, that you can make a very good fuel for about 70 cents a gal. And you can use this for your oil fired furnace. Check it out. Jack
