Forgot to mention, it has a 3.5 motor.120,000 miles, Engine compartment is covered in a oily slime. Like an old 283 or 327 from the late 60's or early 70's.I don't think I could work on the engine without getting covered with grease. My 95 Lumina is vertually clean under the hood compared to this car.

Hello Maark,
All I can give you much input on is the trans.
It will either run a 4T65E or 4T45E. The 65E is the common trans in the bigger GM cars and mini vans, pretty good unit. The 45E is in some Intrigues, sunfires, Aleros, Cavaliers, etc. Not a terrible trans, but prone to alittle more problems. The bugger with the 45E is theres no dip stick, it`s filled thru the vent, and checking fluid requires a hoist and about a ten step procedure. Also from a rebuilders standpoint, the pumps are a sealed unit. Which means you can`t check the condition, so to me, every one I rebuild gets a new pump (fairly pricey).
Other than that though, I think GM builds a good car. Hope this was some help Brokenwrench

Hi, I bought a 98 intrigue new. Couple problems. Back windows would stick and not roll down. Because didn"t use them much. At 70 thousand miles developed transmission problem. Shower down on the accelerator and it would start shuddering. Traded it off. Engine and otherwise was very good. I liked the car a lot.
