On my Pos ground 1961 Cockshutt 550 tractor, the Bat wire from the generator to the ammeter has melted coating. As well, the regulator wire to the Armature on the generator is also burnt. The tractor still runs but I need to find the cause. Could it be a bad regulator?
Thanks

Yes it could. It could also be other things without looking at the tractor. Post an email for me and I will send you some troubleshooting information

There is one other wire that also has melted and that is a wire from the ignition to the solenoid. However the wire to the coil and distributor is fine. My email is open for further questions.
Thanks
