I finally found some time to go to our local ford dealer to look at new trucks. It was hard to find just a plane F 150 work truck, without extra seats, and power everything. I did manage to find one like I wanted,a V 6 auto without a lot of stuff I don,t need. I think it was the only one on the lot. It was hard to part with 17,500, plus tax and license. That is 1/2 of what my house cost. But it should last a long time. I still have my 80 f 350 to haul my tractor . I hope you all had a happy 4th, mine was rather expensive. Stan in Calif

Hey Chief, I know what you mean, kind've expensive anymore. Back in '94, bought a new Dodge, because was the only truck could find with a manual transmission, and really no frills. Cost me $17.5K back then. Then a neighbor buddy comes home with a brand new Ford, 2-tone paint, extended cab, power everything, $17.5K too.

Well, I got my manual transmission anyway.

Mark

Kinda proves the theory that new trucks don't have to be priced clear out in the stratosphere, it's all the toys added on that makes the price ridiculous.

There's a French company (Citroen I think) that is selling a 'basic' car in Europe. It's a modern car, with an air bag, but as their advertisement says: "stripped of all superfluous technology". No power steering, no AC, optional radio. Price is $6K. Bet there is a market for a no frills truck in the U.S. Seen this complaint posted on a few discussion boards. You listening Detroit? Probably not...

You got away easy. I got an '05 F-150, 5.4 Liter, 4R75W tranny, extended cab, 4x4 with rhino and remote for $29K. The F-250 it replaced was starting to nickle and dime.
