It is always a good idea to drain the rearend and transmission oil and put new oil in especially if the tractor has been sitting outside.I do this with every used tractor that I buy. On my VAC water got in probably thru the gearshift and froze
in the winter. It popped the axel seal which I had to replace. Now if I leave it outside in the summer I cover the gearshift. Good luckwith your
VAC,they are a good tractor.

The transmission/rearend is all the same sump. Dipstick plug is on the shifter cover. Drain plug is on the bottom aft of axle center line, right side of drawbar. Holds 7 gals SAE 90 gear oil. Does this sound familiar?

Torque tube is forward of the transmission, holds 2 gal hydraulic oil or 10 wt motor oil, if older than 1949 and not used as hyd reservoir use SAE 90. Drain plug is on the bottom just fwd of the transmission/torque tube mating flange. Fill plug is on the left side of the torque tube just above a small 4 bolt flange, fill to lip of plug opening.
