this weather is enough to make a farmer cry.

it looked promising early yesterday, tropical depression heading this way, the weather channel gave a 95% chance of rain. so we waited. it got cloudy. no rain. it got dark. no rain. we went to bed to sprinkles of rain. the rain stayed below I-85. we got 1/10", 5 miles south they got 2".

Highs next week in 90"s, to finish roasting vegetation.
so far this year we"ve gotten little over half our average rainfall, finished May with less than 25% average. on top of an april freeze that completely wiped out all fruit. i know one guy had 35 acres of peaches, he said he has"t got one good peach.

This country has forsaken God, I think God is forsaking this country.

Supposed to rain here tonight we got most of the hay off the field that we cut this week.
Will wait to see what tomorrow brings I'm picking up little jobs like dogs following the wiener truck.

We had 5/8 inch yesterday and another 1/8 inch today with more forecast for tomorrow. South end of the county and over in Cincinnati they had as much as 3 inches. I'll be cutting hay next week I think, it is looking good.

Here in Lower Richland County we got a desperately needed 1.5" from Barry.
That's the first real rain we've gotten in months.
It was disappointing to watch the radar all night at work, seeing the heavy rain split and move past on both sides of us. Only consolation is that the folks in Georgia and Florida needed it even worse than we did. At least we weren't on fire yet.

We are right in the middle of michigan by the M-57 and US-27 intersection just north of St. Johns and we got rain all day today. I am over by Ashley and got 9 tenths today. There were much heavier pockets of rain scattered all around us today that had to have dumped several inches in some places. Just depended on where you were. Cutting hay in Michigan is a real challenge. Good luck.

I"m 6 miles SE of Coldwater. Got another 0.6" last night and it"s raining again. Field crops look good, but lousy hay weather also.
Good luck with yours,
Paul

The last 2 years here North Texas we have had a terrible drought. We were lucky to hold on to our cattle as a lot of folks had no choice but to sell. We were in "your shoes" last year and know how you feel. It looks bad now but it will rain again like it is here. We have had rain just about every day for I dont know how long now and a couple of floods that did quite a bit of damage but you wont here me bitc*ing. I already have heard several folks griping about the rain. How soon we forget. "The Lord does not bring a flood upon you to drown you but to teach you how to swim" I guess the same goes for drought.

Here in south GA we got 4.9 yesterday in a all day slow rain it was great , but we are still abour 12 inch down for the year. It may have been jest enough to save most of the corn. And maybe help the cotton get started most has only been in the ground a week or 10 days. Larry

The GOD I worship isn't a vengefull GOD. It's just weather. We've had droughts before, we'll have them again. It IS enough to test your will to continue on, but don't give up just yet. That's caving in to GODS "competition". Easy for me to say huh? It's raining here now after 17 days without and the driest May on record. It will get better. Hang in there.

John M. Yes I know where you're at; I tell folks I live between Donalds & Level Land, gets 'em real confused!! I guess we were just a little too far west to get in on the main part of the rain. Rick

I agree with the God thing you just said. But, you STILL have to be positive, sir!

Remember, YOU don't make the rain.

We have been getting little teezers all week, all the real rain is north, east, west, and way south of me. Top few inches are moist yet, but it has been cool, and there is no, nada, zip, none, not any sub soil moisture. I even have a few trees drying up already. Be interesting to see how the renters corn does if he doesnt run that irrigation again this year.

We had fun but my guys need more training on how to stack it on a trailer.
The IH wire bailer works great, had some knotter problem on the IH 46 twine but solved that tightened up the bails and adjusted the feed and Viola great baling.
Ain't it great to get out in the fields and work.
while were there two guys came by with 8 acres apiece of real nice grass hay free for the taking so it was great day, and both on the way back home so its no extra driving to get there.

We got about .7" last night. Very welcome, we had a dry May. My uncle used to say if you didn't have a wet week in May you would have a dry summer. Hope he was wrong. We laid plastic yesterday on very dry ground. Now I wish I'd waited. Phil 30 mi nw of Pittsburgh

You can have some of what we have been getting, the wheat crop is pretty much all but ruined, still have hay to get planted if it ever dries up and loads of hay to do. The past 2 weeks we have got rain almost everyday and we have a thunderstorm right now as I'm typing this. I hate to sound like this after we had drought for 2 years but we are good on moisture for right now, give us some later in the hot summer months when we really need it.
