I rebuilt a 1960 CASE 310 crawler last year to do some chores around the farm, but it was so nice, I hated to get it dirty. Therefore, I decided to make something to haul it to a couple of tractor shows before commissioning it for farm duty.

I had several options, so early in the project I decided to make a "rollback" on a 1951 Ford F8 former fire truck that I had purchased. The more that I thought about it, the more I determined that a big truck would be too limited in utility. So in the process, I decided to take the big truck cab and put it on a late model 1 ton chassis (1984 F350) that had the engine power, automatic transmission, power brakes, and power steering for a few human comforts.

The result is a 1951 Ford pickup with an 8 foot bed that has a ball hitch in the bed to haul my tractors on a 24 foot gooseneck trailer. The rear end is a DANA 70 so that I can put dually tires on the rear when a hauling task is to be performed. The engine is a 460 backed by a C6 automatic and a tilt column out of a 69 Lincoln.

The picture shows my 1+ year of work. It's not finished, but hopefully it will be by next summer so I can take my CASE crawler to a few tractor shows.

I hope the picture shows in this post.

That is a great piece of work. My grandfather had a 49 Chevy 1 1/2 ton flatbed that he for some reason decided to pull out of the barn and sell about 20 years ago. I have spent many a day dreaming about building a likeness of that truck on a late model chassis with maybe a diesel motor. I think a 49 Chevy diesel would be cool. I am trying to restore grandpa's '50 Farmall M. Would be cool to have a likeness of his truck to pull it to show. Or maybe I am just too sentimental. Sure do miss grandpa.

Oh ya! I've always wanted to do something like that. I had a 38 Chevy that I wanted to put on a late model chassis but it was too complete and origins=al to tear up, or so i thought. Anyway I sold it whole so now it is gone. Maybe someday.

Looks good! I would not mess with fancy chrome work. Keep it looking as though it is "50s, even if underneath.....
Just my 2p.

Great looking rig, congratulations on the project.

Apparently the Ford website doesn't allow linking, but you can cut and paste the url to see it.

The picture didn't show up in either one, but it brings up a question- in the original post, instead of a picture I had a little box with a red X in it- This has also happened other times in other posts. What's up with the little box instead of the picture? Is there any way to make the picture come up? Is everyone else getting the same thing? Is there some program I should have to make it work? Why am I asking all these questions? Its because I'm COMPUTER MORONIC, that's why. But always willing to (try to) learn.

Mike, you shouldn't need any additional programs. You see the links that don't work, or the boxes with an x in them because the site where the pictures are located is having a problem, or because some sites, such as Ford-trucks, don't allow a link to them.

Or because the link to the picture was not written correctly in the post.
