How do you remove the hood on an 8N? I have removed the four bolts at the instrument panel, two at the top and two at the bottom. There are two bolts at the front of the tractor at the bottom of each of the two side panels, but I thought the side panels were separate from the hood. I assume that I must also remove the gas line and drain the gas tank, since the gas tank seems to be integrally attached to the hood. Details, please. Thanks, Tom

I just pulled mine off, and you've got it. You can just shut the gas valve off instead of draining the tank. The bolts you spoke of are the ones to remove and disconnect the gas line at the carb. Then just lift it off. It's kind of heavy so a hand makes it easy. The side dog legs stay with the hood and come off too. If you have a full tank it's going to be heavier. You have to kind of wiggle it around under the steering wheel and over the radiator. Be carefull when you set it down if it's full of gas it will leak when set down on an angle. What are you fixing? I had a leak in my radiator, I'm just ready to put it back together.

Richard, I just acquired the 8N from the family. I am trying to learn all I can about it. I am probably going to start it's fixup by repainting the hood and rear tire skirts. Thanks for your input. Tom

Jump over to the N board. There is tons of info there. Everything you could think of to ask has been covered many times. Just reading through some posts you can learn a lot.
