Belly Pan for Ford

I have a Ford 850 that I'm using on my woodlot. Occasionally I'm made aware of the fact that I'm not treating the tractor all that gently as we push through stumps and so forth. I'd surely like to have some protection for the more sensitive (and hard to find) parts of the tractor. Anyone have an idea of where I can get some protective gear or how I should fabricate some?

Thanks,

Bill

I have a Ford 860 that I use in the woods and I have the front Deerborn snow / dozer blade for winter use. I take the blade off but leave the mounting frame on and it protects both the front bottom of the tractor back to the transmission. It might be worth looking into for you.

bill, i just had to do the same thing to mine!!! i have a ford 531, which has very litte ground clerance, i took some 3/8" plate steel and made a skid plate for protection of my oil pan,i just took some measurements and found bolts that i could remove and fabricate brackets to and weld to the plate, that can be removed with ease, i do not know if 3/8" plate will be sufficient for you, depending on your weight??? brian

Sorry Bill, I saw your post last night and thought what a great idea. Unfortunately I don"t have one of those "run forever and ever" Ford tractors, but I sure know of my share. The only protection I"ve ever seen were brush guards on the front ends. As far as belly pans and stuff (great idea!), might have to take a few measurements and try your best luck out on making them up. Who knows, may even be able to patent such an idea and sell a few. Hmm? Really thought one of the Ford owners would"ve posted back. The best tractors are the ones people modify to meet their needs. Good luck.
