I got my International 240 running on Thursday 1/01. I've had it about six months. Stipped it down and got everything checked out. It is still six volt and the starter wouldn't turn it fast enough to crank so I pilled started it. It cranked and ran great with no smoke. It runs about as quiet as smooth as my car. I will probably have to replace the radiator though as it leaks. One question though is the line from the gas tank to the gas guage a regular electrical line or some type special wire. That wire was missing on the tractor. Also what side of the guage does it connect to? thanks and happy new year.

Use regular primary wire.

Most electric gas gauges are labelled:

"I" ... connects to switched 12 Volts from the ignition switch.

"S" ... connects to sender in gas tank.

Some have a ground terminal, and some are grounded by the metal dash panel. In either case, the gauge needs a good, clean ground to operate properly, and the sender needs to be grounded, also. This requires clean sender and tank mounting screw(s), and in some applications, a ground wire from the sender to the machine chassis.
