I have a 730 and an 820 which have both filled the crankcase with fuel. One did it while it was running and the other did it while it was sitting in the shed. There was no miss while running. I haven't had time to look at it yet, so I thought I would see if anyone had any ideas before I tore into one. Thanks, Mark

Johne Deere 730 or 820?

If that's what you are referring to, search the archives on the Deere board. These have a shaft driven gear-type fuel lift pump, and are prone to leak by the shaft seal.

Mark,

Not familiar with your tractor, but I've run into this from a bad fuel pump diaphram on a cam driven lift pump.

Just a thought,

Allan

Yep! Been there-done that. The fuel pump appears fine; however, a ruptured diaphram allows fuel to gravity flow from the tank into the crankcase, or be pumped there by excess fuel pressure. I would'nt run the engine until repaired, as diesel fuel WILL ruin the bottom end bearings.
