JD baler problem

The kicker on my buddies baler is malfunctioning. It will kick the bale out but does not reset and the next bale just pushes the kicker out and we have to stop and pull the bale out and then push the kicker down to lock it back in--then it will kick out one bale. It is not hitting any thing when It comes down that we could see but it will not latch as it drops. Heres the kicker-pardon the pun-it works fine when we tied a string to the actuator and operated it with out a bale on it. We adjusted the tension on the spring for the latch mechanism and shortened the actuator rod. Any help GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

The latch on top of the kicker gets beat pretty hard when a blae is kicked; it might've gotten bent.

Change the oil in the reservoir and clean and flush and clean and flush. Inside the reservoir there is a small orifice that is plugged. I got my brothers rig working by doing the clean everthing routine 20 years ago. Can't help you much more than that, sorry.

Let's start with something simple, is the bale "drooping" down behind the kicker pan. It doesn't take much drag to prevent the pan from returning to lock position. If it is hanging at all you may have to experiment with bale shape or add extenders at the lower corners of the bale chute.

I have a JD baler with a kicker, and am not sure what to tell you. Only thing I would be sure of is that when you are baling, make sure the next bale coming out of the chamber is not jitting the kicker on its return and stopping it from latching. if this is the case, you might want to change bale length, or ground speed. if thats not it I would talk to a JD repair man that KNOWS about these kickers.
