Guys, I'm leaving tomorrow morning and found the following problem... I have taillights on the Durango, but no power at the 7 pin connector for the trailer. It also has a 4 pin right next to it -- No power there either. Everything works except tail lights. I know, the obvious answer is take it to the dealer, but I need to leave by noon tomorrow. I had assumed the problem was in the trailer, so I bought new lights, etc (they were bad anyway). I'm testing using a light tester clipped to the (-) terminal on the connector and then touching the posts.

Again, everything works except the taillights, BUT the taillights on the truck work fine...

Please Help!!!

Run a wire up to the battery neg termanal for a ground. We had trouble with one and the box nor the rear bumper would make a ground---and no thanks to any comments of me drinking. We tried scraping paint off, clamping a vise grip on the hitch etc. No it certianly does not make sence, but it actualy did happen. The frame of the truck had little if any rust on it as well.

Just wanted to thank everyone that offerred assistance. I couldn't get anything to work. I just ran the AUX pin to the tail lights on the trailer. So, whenever the harness is plugged in, the tail lights are on. Will have to work until I get back on Monday and get it to the dealer... I'll let ya'll know what really fixed it.

When testing use a "known good" ground. The - pin may not be grounded (bad connection? or?) Ground the test lamp/meter to the frame when looking for voltage. If you have a meter you can also check the - pin for resistance (ohms) by testing between the frame and the pin. It should read very low ohms if it is good. Email if you need further help.

I went through the same thing on my 3500 ram, look under the dash and there will most likely be a blue wire coiled up behind where you plug the brake controller into. They dont hook it up at the factory, but I bet it is hooked up on the trailer end. That is your power wire for the brakes. Hope this helps.

Late model ford and chevy trucks have a seperate fuse for the trailer lights. Check your fuses to see if dodge does this too. Greg

Omaha, I found one fuse blown under the hood. That was keeping the RH turn signal from working. I've checked every fuse I can find and still no tailights.
