Thanks for weighing in on the Canadian Deere issue of mine. Can you verify that this is a Mannheim tractor and offer a blue book. I have been unable to find a site that values used tractors. JD1630 serial#222352, 145 loader, good shape, no smoke, no leaks, 50%rubber, guage shows 4000+ hrs. If we opt to purchase it will be the back bone of the vegetable operation, tilling, brush hog, seeders etc. so it is an important decision for us. Sincere thanks for the help
Mike

Don't be afraid of of the 55 series they are better tractors than the 2240 series because of the up dates. When they discontinued the some the growers bought everyone they could get because they didn't know how good the 5000 series was going to be. I have a 2355N with 4WD and Hi/Low and its one of the best tractors that I'ver owned or used, I'm looking for another one to replace my 2640 some day. Allan

A Mannheim 1630 looks to be the counterpart of a Dubuque 1530. Both about a 45HP three cylinder diesel. No clue on the "Blue Book" price. If that tractor is complete, intact, not bashed up or "farm engineered". It will sell used for near it's origional new price in Canada. New price for a 1530 in the US was $7145.00US in 1973. Price of grain han't changed much since then either. The 30 series is getting a bit old as production dates back to 1974 to 1975 or so for 1530's. The 1520-1120,1530-1630,2240-1630-1140,2150,2155. Are various generations of the same size Dubuque and Mannhiem tractors. For loader work and working in wet soils. Is there any M4WD tractors in the local market? You could handle the same loads with less ballast and less soil compaction. Pull the transmission oil filter and screen before opening your wallet. If it smells of sulpher it probably had regular 90 or 140 weight gear oil added. To this very day, 45 years after transmission and hydraulics lubes have been combined/common.There are still illiterate know it alls that think "gear lube". There will be or soon will be friction material from the high/low shift and brakes. The pto maybe the two stage dry clutch and would be ok. Check the clutch bearing grease fitting. No grease or great gobs of grease are both a bad sign. Test the coolant for being acidic with a ph test strip. if acidic be prepared to install at the least a fresh set of wet sleeves.

Just as confused as ever. Can you tell by serial# the country of origin? There are 4x4s out there, the 2355s are starting to show up used lately but the price reflects the benafits of four wheel drive. If this where a 2240 I would jump at it but the fact it is from outside the country has me a little on edge. If I knew it was manufactured in Germany that might make a difference to me as well, the German tractors have an excellent reputation around here.

It's genetic. My Mother was driving the 70D standard while she was pregnant. Found that tractor, bought it back and restored it.
