i am about to start the restore of my 61 super major. i bought another engine due to the original one having a 2" x 3" hole in the side of the block. the new motor had a good double disk clutch attached to it. the tractor currently has a single disk in it now. i believe i read somewhere that the doulbe disk was used when the tractor was fited with a raised pto. i don't have a raised pto or even a normal pto as the tractor is fitted with a backhoe.
will the double disk work in my tractor and is there a advantage to it over a single? i want to build the best tractor i can.
thanks

Thanks for the info. Unfortunantly i can't use the tranny that the motor and clutch came off of because it came from a Major and mine is a Super Major. How much is the clutch worth? I would like to find someone that can use it, i hate to see good parts go to waste.

The twin clutch is used with a live pto, it will not work with your transmission and is of no value without a pto. It is worth money though, I would sell it if I was you. Dont throw it away, they are hard to come by..

I agree with Steve.Maybe you could find the transmission and/or tractor that the motor came off of and sell the unit to someone who could use it.Two stage clutchs are handy in a lot of situations.
