My 1963 Fordson super major with "live power" has a two-stage clutch. Without warning the transmission quit working. There was no smell of a clutch burning up. The clutch pedal has the same feel as before. The shifter will go into gear. The PTO engages and releases when the clutch is fully depressed, as usual. Before I break this monster in half, any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Ed

The only thing that comes to mind is that the front transmission may be disengaged (between high and low ranges). Removal of the rear transmission cover and seeing which if any shafts and gears turn should tell you a lot. Be careful not to lock the transmission in two gears at once. The live or independent PTO is basically separate from the drive train from the clutch back. Hope this helps.
