That's an old trucker's trick. Mad Max was also an expert diesel brewmaster. The problem is that gasoline is so much more volatile than diesel fuel, and the violent combustion is very hard/fatal on the bottom end. Crushed mothballs will work too. If you are weary of ether try waving a gasoline soaked rag over the air intake while cranking. The fumes from the evaporating gas will help it start without the violence of ether. Remember , like all else moderation is the name of the game--- AND NEVER EVER TRY ANY OF THIS CRAP ON ANY ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH GLOW PLUGS OR ANY OTHER PREHEAT DEVICE (example-DEXTA)
